Publishing Policies
Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews is an independent publication. Though the current staff is based in Fullerton California, our future will include news, views and reviews of communities all over the world.
Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews publishes articles, video and more as soon as they arrive and are approved. We are an online-only publication, therefore can publish content continuously, instead of creating new issues.
Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews is a First Amendment publication, and reserve all First Amendment rights, which we will defend in any venue or courtroom.
The writers of Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews publish both news and opinion in first-person style, as well as in the standard third-person style.
Mission Statement
Ever wanted your own publication? I did, and now that dream has come true at last.
Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews is an all-online publication that is different from your average student-newspaper.
Generally, college campus newspapers are run by students in a class, with a teacher for an adviser --whose role is, by [ California and other ] state law, only to advise, not to edit, run or select the stories that run. The typical student paper is run by a large or middle-size class of students. This simulates a typical professional newsroom.
That, however, is not Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews. I, DanaRose Crystal am the owner and Editor-in-Chief, and my staff consists of a rag-tag team of passionate individuals who likewise ache to break free of the usual method of doing things.
If you were alive to see the birth and development of such TV cable networks as MTV, HBO Comedy Network, Nickelodeon and A&E, you'd have seen content resembling that of many free-access cable channels.
It was fairly primitive, but fun, fresh and avant-gard. Later on, they all evolved into slick, perfect and rather ordinary, run-of- the-mill type TV networks.
Those of you who miss that sort of fresh type of content might enjoy Crystal Clear News, Views and Reviews --a publication independent of any particular college, group or association, this is more of a newsmagazine than a newspaper in that, at times, we will publish content that isn't standard with current newspaper trends or methods. We have a section devoted to never-before-published pieces written months or years earlier: "Blast From The Past."
Thus, our writers can finally publish the pieces which were rejected from their previous college papers ( and if you've never read them before, they are new to you ).
We will have news, entertainment --with a section featuring the most fun YouTube and other video sites!-- cartoons, poetry and fiction, opinion, romantic advice and articles, publicity for clubs and student government and the sort of content most student publications steer away from: We have insider-written stories, and first-person news and features --which are usually verbotan in the average student paper.
Advisers are wise in steering students in the standard manner--the safe, tried-and-true methods. However, today and in the future, publications need to open up to new ways to catch the public's eyes.
